Privacy Policy

MindSparkd is a daily quote app made by Raphael Guarin, an individual developer. This policy explains what the app collects, why it collects it, and how to get rid of it. It is written to describe what the app actually does rather than to cover every eventuality.
The short version: MindSparkd stores your account and the things you create in it. It contains no analytics, no tracking and no advertising, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing. You can delete everything from inside the app.
What is collected
Your account
- Your email address, if your sign-in method provides one. Signing in with Facebook using a phone-only account, or with Apple using Hide My Email, may mean no usable address is stored.
- Which method you signed in with — email, Google, Apple or Facebook.
- Your first name, last name and nickname, if you enter them.
- A profile photo, if you upload one or your sign-in provider supplies one.
- Your device's time zone, so that daily streaks roll over at your midnight rather than somewhere else's.
What you create in the app
- The quotes you like.
- Reflections you write. These are your own words and are never read, analysed or shared.
- Reminders you set, including the time and the quote attached to them.
- Your preferences: chosen background, selected genres, notification and quiet-hours settings.
- Background photos you upload from your device.
How you use the app
- Which quotes have been shown to you, and whether you shared one. This is what stops the feed repeating quotes you have already seen.
- Your current and longest streak.
- A notification token for your device, so the app can schedule notifications on it.
What is not collected
- No analytics or usage tracking. The app contains no analytics SDK of any kind.
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
- No location.
- No contacts, calendar or health data.
- No access to your photo library beyond the single image you choose when you set a background or a profile photo.
Notifications are scheduled on your phone
Reminders, the daily quote and streak nudges are all scheduled locally by your own device. No server sends them, and no server is told when they fire or whether you opened one.
If your account has an email address, MindSparkd sends it one welcome email when you sign up, and a password-reset email only when you ask for one. There is no newsletter and no marketing email.
Who else is involved
MindSparkd relies on a small number of services to work at all:
- Supabase — hosts the database, sign-in and file storage where your account and content live.
- Google Cloud Run — hosts the small API used for account deletion and the welcome email.
- Resend — delivers MindSparkd's emails, so it receives your email address and the message being sent to it.
- Apple, Google and Meta — only if you choose to sign in with them, and only to confirm who you are. They are not told what you read or write in the app.
- Pexels — the built-in background photographs are loaded from Pexels' image servers, which means they receive your device's IP address when a background loads, as any website would.
Nothing is sold, rented or shared with advertisers or data brokers.
Photos you upload are stored publicly
Background photos and profile photos are stored at web addresses that are long and effectively unguessable, but not private: anyone who has the exact address can open the file. This is how the app shows your background instantly on every device you sign in on. Please do not upload anything you would not be comfortable being reachable by a link.
How long it is kept
Your account and content are kept until you delete them. Deleting your account removes them immediately and permanently — see Delete your data.
Your choices
- See and change your details — Settings › Edit profile.
- Turn off notifications — in the app's Settings, or in your phone's own settings.
- Delete a reflection — clear its text and save.
- Delete everything — Settings › Edit profile › Delete account.
If you are in the UK, EU or another region with data protection rights, you may also request a copy of your data or ask for it to be corrected or erased by emailing hello@mindsparkd.com.
Children
MindSparkd is not directed at children under 13, and accounts are not knowingly created for them. If you believe a child has created an account, email the address below and it will be removed.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will also be announced in the app.
